This is an illustrative example of a typical small business site with 50 pages. It is not based on a real customer, and the time estimates are rough guides.
Before you start: make a list
Put your 50 URLs in a spreadsheet with columns for title, description, word count, readability, canonical and notes. Your XML sitemap is the fastest source: open yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml and copy the URLs out.
Step 1: site-wide checks (about 15 minutes, one run each)
- Sitemap. Paste it into the Sitemap Validator. Fix errors such as unescaped
&, relative URLs, mixed http/https and identical dates on every page. - robots.txt. Paste it into the Robots.txt Tester and test all 50 URLs at once for Googlebot, then for the AI crawlers you care about.
- Canonical rules. Decide your preferred format (https, with or without www, trailing slash) and use the Canonical Tag Generator to produce clean tags.
Step 2: page-by-page checks
For each page, check the title, the meta description and the content:
- Title: paste it into the Page Title Analyzer. Look for missing keywords, titles over about 600 pixels, and duplicates.
- Description: check it with the Meta Description Length Checker. Write one for any page that has none.
- Content: run the body text through the Keyword Density Checker and the Readability Checker.
- Sharing: check important pages in the Open Graph Preview.
At 3 to 4 minutes per page, 50 pages take roughly 3 hours of focused work.
What the free plan covers
Every tool is free. The title, description, keyword density, robots.txt, sitemap and canonical tools have no daily limit at all. Tools that show a daily counter, such as the Readability Checker and Open Graph Preview, allow 10 runs a day in total on the free plan. For this audit that means:
| Task | Runs needed | Free plan | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sitemap, robots.txt, canonical rules | 3 | No limit | No limit |
| Titles, descriptions, keyword density | 150 | No limit | No limit |
| Readability (50 pages) | 50 | 10 a day, so about 5 days | One sitting |
| Open Graph checks (20 key pages) | 20 | Shares the same 10 a day | One sitting |
| Ads while you work | – | Shown | None |
When Pro is worth $49 a month
Pro does not change what the tools do. It removes the 10-runs-a-day limit and the ads on every tool, and adds priority email support. It is $49 a month or $409 a year, and you can cancel any time.
- Worth it: you audit sites regularly, run client audits, or want to finish a 50-page audit in one sitting instead of spreading the counter-limited checks over a week.
- Not needed: you check a few pages a month, or you only use the tools without a daily limit.
If you try Pro and it is not useful, email us within 7 days of your first payment for a full refund. See what Pro includes.
After the audit: fix in this order
- Anything that blocks crawling or indexing: robots.txt, noindex, broken canonicals, sitemap errors.
- Missing or duplicate titles and descriptions on your most important pages.
- Thin pages that need more useful content.
- Readability and sharing previews.
Then resubmit your sitemap in Google Search Console and watch the Pages report over the following weeks.
